Get Fighting Fit, Develop Self-Confidence and Learn Life Changing Martial Arts Skills
West Coast Academy of Martial Arts (WCAMA) is a family oriented, professionally managed self defence school. We teach realistic self defence techniques to help our students develop confidence and skills for real-life situations. We offer programs for children and adults of all fitness and skill levels, including both beginner and advanced classes to accommodate different levels of experience.
Adult Classes
Our Adult Self Defence program is designed to equip students with practical self-defence skills, build confidence, and enhance overall fitness. The curriculum incorporates a variety of striking techniques and training methods from disciplines like boxing and Muay Thai, with a significant focus on pad work, bag work, and partner drills.
In addition to striking, the program covers essential ground-fighting techniques, all taught within a self-defence context, rather than for sport competition. A strong emphasis is placed on developing strength and conditioning, ensuring students not only improve their ability to defend themselves but also build physical resilience and fitness.
We also provide Freestyle Wrestling Fundamentals classes. We are affiliated with Gladiator Wrestling and Coach Alan Landy, former National High Performance manager and WA State Coach.
Juniors & Teens
Martial Arts Classes
Our children's martial arts program builds confidence and self defence skills against bullies and attackers. Students learn techniques like protective falling, takedowns, and escape methods, along with situational awareness. The program also focuses on character building, teaching confidence, self-discipline, and the 7 Virtues of the Bushido code: respect, courage, honour, compassion, honesty, loyalty, and integrity.
